From Juneau to You! Dear friends, Thank you so much for filling out my survey regarding the various issues currently in front of the Legislature. There was an overwhelming response from my constituency, and I will be taking the time to review the results more extensively. I look forward to continuing to serve the district. Here are the results from the survey: Follow Me on Facebook Follow Me on Twitter Virtual Constituent Meeting On April 10th, I held my first virtual constituent meeting of the session. It was great to see so many constituents on the call! I am very thankful to everyone who attended the meeting. My staff has taken notes on the various topics discussed during the Zoom, and I have reached out to everyone who attended the meeting and requested a follow-up call. If you were unable to attend and have questions or concerns, please contact my office using the contact information found at the bottom of this email. Additionally, you can watch a recording of the meeting by clicking on the link below. Watch The Virtual Constituent Meeting Emergency Declaration On March 26th, the House passed House Bill 76 (HB76). This legislation seeks to continue the necessary public funding for testing, vaccinations, and grants to re-open our economy safely. Additionally, HB 76 protects access to millions of dollars in vital federal funding. The bill passed the Senate on the evening of April 28th with minor amendments. Later that evening, the House voted 25-15 to accept the Senate's changes and send the bill to the Governor's desk. As of yesterday, at 1:00 p.m., it was reported that the Governor signed HB76 but ended the emergency declaration. HB 76 provisions: Allows Alaska to operate airport testing sites for out-of-state travelers. Gives healthcare providers the ability to offer off-site testing and vaccination clinics. Provides waivers for the continued use of expanded telehealth services. Secures an additional $8 million a month in federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Turns federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans into grants.
