Make some noise! My Stop Loud and Excessive Exhaust Pollution (SLEEP Act) just passed the New York State Senate Transportation Committee! We're one step closer to cracking down on obnoxious and deafening muffler and exhaust systems.

The SLEEP ACT would increase fines for modifying mufflers and ensure authorities can measure decibels levels objectively. This bill will curtail dangerous behavior and let our neighbors get some peace and quiet once and for all. Times are stressful and the last thing families need is to feel like they are living next to an airport runway with outrageously loud noises coming from souped-up automobiles.

This is just the first step. I’ve recently introduced legislation that creates a pilot program to install noise cameras that would automate the enforcement and allow NYC to finally tackle this issue once and for all.

Noise pollution and dangerous driving is causing headaches all over New York City, so if you believe that this nuisance needs to stop now, please sign our petition and help us get more public support for the SLEEP Act.
