The Tax Excessive CEO Pay Act would tax big corporations that pay their CEOs and other top executives at least 50 times more than they pay their average worker. The wider a company’s gap between CEO and median worker pay, the higher their federal corporate tax rate. Our bill would raise an estimated $150 billion over the span of 10 years that could be used to reduce racial, gender, and economic inequality. At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed and worsened income inequality, it’s critical that we pass legislation that levels the playing field between workers and corporate executives. We are counting on grassroots supporters like you to join our movement and help put an end to the ongoing cycle of billions of dollars going to those at the top while workers’ wages — especially for workers of color — remain stagnant. Will you sign on as a grassroots co-sponsor to demand we start taxing excessive CEO pay? Thank you for signing on with me. In solidarity, Barbara Lee |
