Hello! MenEngage Africa invites you to an interactive skills-building session on what is termed “intimate partner violence (IPV)”, which will take place as part of the roundtable discussions of the ongoing MenEngage Ubuntu Symposium.

The term "intimate partner violence (IPV)" describes physical, sexual or psychological harm caused by a current or former partner or spouse. This type of violence is common in many societies, it’s mostly perpetrated by men against women and girls, and it is the leading cause of femicide. IPV is deeply rooted in patriarchy and gender inequality.

As part of the Ubuntu Symposium, MenEngage Africa is hosting a skills-building session to address the perverse issue. This skills-building session will provide an opportunity to reflect on the impact of IPV on women and girls in Africa and it will interrogate the drivers of IPV, identify gaps in the system that continue to fuel it and also share some of the best practices that MenEngage Eswatini and MengageEngage Namibia have used in efforts to reduce cases of IPV that can be used in other contexts.

We are inviting partners to come join us on Wednesday, 28 April as we learn from one another and explore possible solutions.
