This week, Massachusetts State Representative Tram T. Nguyen was among only 6 women nationwide to be nominated for the EMILY’s List Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award, which celebrates women who are outstanding leaders in their communities, with bright political futures.

I’ve known Tram since she first ran for State Rep in 2018, when she was a legal aid attorney fighting for the rights of workers, immigrants, and victims of domestic violence. She built a grassroots, people-powered campaign to defeat an anti-choice, anti-immigrant, 4-term Republican incumbent. Since then, she’s been a powerful voice and an asset to our Commonwealth.

Voting is happening right now and will close this Friday, April 23 at 5:00 PM. Cast your vote today to help Tram become the next EMILY’s List Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star. ([link removed])

Named in honor of the courageous Arizona Congresswoman and gun safety advocate, the Rising Star Award celebrates extraordinary women serving in state or local office who demonstrate commitment to community, dedication to women and families, determination, and civility. Previous Rising Star Award recipients include former Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams and our own Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley.

The winner will be announced in early May, and the We Are EMILY National Conference takes place on May 17 and 18. Tickets will be available for anyone to attend remotely; more information forthcoming.
