Earlier today, Dianne teamed up with our Fund the People Organizer, Emerald Snipes, who is also the daughter of the late Eric Garner, to announce the plan at the Barclays Center, which has become one of the central hubs of protest in the movement for Black lives.
We know that Black and Brown communities are disproportionately targeted by the NYPD and criminalized by the city. We also know that safe communities are not made through policing or incarceration, and the CFRD is a step toward building a city where New Yorkers feel safe, supported and heard.
