Familia,

After six years of hard work, people are finally starting to take Texas seriously as a potential battleground state -- something we've known to be true for a while. From national news outlets to local papers, the headlines we're seeing are pretty amazing.

The New York Times went so far as to say, "Texas is on the doorstep of emerging as a battleground state, and any number of Democrats might stand a chance to compete there in 2020 for the presidency or the Senate."

This is huge progress from the solid red status people have come to expect from Texas -- but we all know headlines don't win elections, team.

Texas will only be a real battleground in 2020 if the electorate matches the growing and increasingly diverse population in the state. That's why Battleground Texas and our incredible movement of grassroots volunteers have set out -- from the beginning -- to build the infrastructure we need to engage and grow the electorate. And we all know that Republicans will do everything they can to keep that from happening -- including suppressing the vote.

That means we've got a lot of work to do between now and Election Day 2020. Today is exactly one year out from Texas' voter registration deadline. Right now, we're trying to hit our goal of registering 250,000 new voters, including 146,000 young voters and 131,000 voters of color -- but we need your help to get there. Can you chip in now to help us with our voter registration efforts?

Let's make these headlines a reality.

¡Adelante juntos!
