H.R. 1 Is a Threat to American Democracy. Period – For years now, liberal left-wing advocacy groups have been pushing two idea. Well, two ideas, one, there’s no election fraud in the U.S., so we don’t need to worry about it. And, two, that any measures that states take to try to secure the integrity election process like requiring an ID to vote, very basic requirement, that that is not needed because there is no fraud that ever happens and therefore, any kind of remedies like that are simply an attempt to suppress votes. Of course, none of that is true, we do have fraud in this country and we should take basic security measures. They don’t prevent people from voting, but this is all an effort to, frankly, I think, make it easier to cheat and easier to manipulate election results. Heritage expert: Zack Smith

What Did Jim Crow Really Look Like?  Under "Jim Crow" laws, black people were subjected to a variety of discriminatory designs including: Blacks and whites were forbidden to marry, black children were shunted off to separate schools from white children, blacks in transit could be arrested for vagrancy and the services “sold” to pay fines, criminal incarceration required racially separate institutions, facilities were divided and labelled as “For White Only” or “For Colored Only”, poll taxes and literacy tests excluded black citizens from voting, and in some courtrooms, blacks could only swear oaths on a “Jim Crow” Bible. In addition to the legal apparatus of “Jim Crow,” blacks in Southern states were compelled to conform to demeaning codes of racial “etiquette” that governed how black people could drive down streets or walk on pavements. Violators of that code could be attacked and lynched, and it is estimated that between 1880 and 1968, approximately 5000 blacks were murdered by white mobs. Heritage expert: Allen Guelzo

Some Inconvenient Truth for the Supreme Courtpackers – Democrats want to expand the Supreme Court for the same reason that Roosevelt did in 1937. They want a Court that reliably furthers their political agenda — and they want it now. Judicial independence includes the fact that most vacancies occur when judges decide to retire. Democrats today want the politicians to take over that responsibility as well. As the Senate Judiciary Committee report on FDR’s court-packing bill put it, however, it is “far better that we await orderly but inevitable change of personnel than that we impatiently overwhelm them with new members.” Last year, Democrats called for honoring the wish of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg that she be replaced by the next president. This year, however, Democrats are ignoring Ginsburg’s wish that Congress refuse to expand the Supreme Court. Doing so would have the very consequence that Democrats avoided in 1937: the political takeover of the judiciary. Heritage expert: Tom Jipping

Biden's border polls lower than bottom of Rio Grande – There is no question most Americans want America to remain a proud nation of immigrants, but they want legal immigration that works, building better citizens and communities. They don’t want a damaged immigration system and broken borders. Hard-working, law-abiding Americans will only get the border and immigration policies they deserve when national leaders in Washington perform their duties as required by law. The Trump administration demonstrated that merely enforcing existing laws could bring illegal immigration under control and secure the border. That is the model to follow, and the only place to start for returning humanity, safety, and the rule of law to our Southern border. Heritage expert: Jim Carafano

President Biden’s Corporate Tax Increase Would Reduce Wages, Harm Economic Growth, and Make America Less Competitive – President Joe Biden has released his American Jobs Plan, a $2 trillion tax-and-spend proposal. The tax plan would reduce wages, cost jobs, restrict economic growth, reduce investment, and make America less competitive. The plan would increase the tax burden on American job creators by raising the corporate tax rate to 28 percent (from 21 percent), add a new minimum tax on book income, increase taxes on U.S.-headquartered multinational corporations, sacrifice American competitiveness through a new international agreement to create a cartel of high-tax countries, target the fossil-fuel industry for tax hikes, increase green-energy subsidies, and increase tax-collection enforcement. Congress should reject tax hikes in favor of a pro-growth agenda that keeps all taxes low. Heritage expert: Joel Griffith

Woke Corporations Adopt Hypocritical Playbook on China – It appears that many corporate leaders not only are willing to collaborate and use their collective power to punish states that pass laws similar to Georgia’s, they are seemingly willing to work alongside high-profile groups connected with the Democrat Party too. National Review columnist Dan McLaughlin writes of this arrangement: “You can call that a lot of things, but it is very far removed from the operation of a free market in goods, services, or ideas.” The woke invasion of big business has been a long time in the making. The hypocritical actions regarding China reveal its shallowness. That doesn’t mean this isn’t a deeply worrying trend with serious consequences for our free society. Heritage expert: Jarrett Stepman
