Hello,

We all celebrated when the Democrats took back the Senate. Mitch McConnell, the Senate Grim Reaper, had lost his power to bury progressive bills. Or so we thought.

You've probably noticed that Democrats haven't been able to pass all of the highly popular progressive bills that they support, even though they're in the majority. The Senate filibuster stands in their way.

Since its creation, the Senate filibuster has been used to uphold white supremacy, block civil rights legislation, and benefit the wealthy at the expense of everyone else. Former President Barack Obama has called the filibuster a "Jim Crow relic." And Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez says it's "a cherished tool of segregationists."

And guess what? Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans are following the example of Jim Crow-era obstructionists to block vital (and popular!) reforms. Unless we end the filibuster, these progressive bills don't stand a chance:

● The Raise the Wage Act of 2021
● The John Lewis Voting Rights Act
● The For the People Act
● The Protecting the Right to Organize Act
● The Equality Act

We didn't win back the Senate just to watch our leaders sit on their hands. We DEMAND action, and that means throwing off the Senate filibuster. But some Democrats want to keep the filibuster in place for the sake or tradition or so that Democrats can force Republicans to compromise if the GOP regains the majority (even though McConnell will circumvent the filibuster like he has before). That's why we're asking our supporters:
Do you support abolishing the filibuster?
