Marco and his buddies have started up their "defund Planned Parenthood" rallying cry... but this time Marco's branded it with a fun, misleading title: Protect Funding for Women's Health Care Act.

What is it? A response to the Biden administration's proposal to reverse a Trump-era abortion rule.

What does it include? An effort to undermine Title X, a decades-old federal family planning program that provides roughly $286 million in annual funds to support clinics serving primarily lower-income women.

What?! Yes, Marco's Protect Funding for Women's Health Care Act would repeal the funding for clinics like Planned Parenthood which provide birth control, cancer, and STD screenings.

Why? In Marco's words:

"Taxpayer dollars should never be used to fund organizations that perform abortions, an inhumane practice that a substantial percentage of Americans have a strong moral objection to. Planned Parenthood should never receive federal funding, and this legislation would make that a reality."

You might remember the long-standing law that federal funds cannot be used to pay for abortions.

Despite this, ill-informed opportunists like Marco are intentionally blurring the lines so that funding for critical treatments looks like government handouts for abortions when provided to organizations that do both.
