Team –

Arkansas just passed a law prohibiting doctors from providing gender-affirming medical care to transgender youth in the state. And while Governor Asa Hutchinson originally vetoed the bill, the Republican-held state legislature overrode the veto the next day.

We need the Senate to pass the Equality Act and make clear that there is no place for discrimination against people based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.

For me, it’s simple: Everyone in this country has the right to be exactly who they are. If you’re with me, can I count on you to chip in to support our campaign and join the fight for equality for all?

I re-introduced the Equality Act to finally prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation in this country.

Federal law still does not expressly prohibit discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation. And that loophole allows right-wing groups to use claims of "religious freedom" to deny services, opportunity, or care to LGBTQIA+ citizens and allows Republican majorities to pass dangerous legislation denying basic rights to those living and working in their state.

The Equality Act would make it clear once and for all that transgender workers are protected and prevent employers from firing or refusing to hire transgender people. It would explicitly prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender identity in any health insurance that involves federal funds. It would add explicit protections from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in housing and education. And so much more...

There are tangible things we can do in government to further the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights, and I am ready to fight tooth and nail to make sure we don’t stop until we have true equality for all.

But I’ll need your support to go up against the right-wing disinformation machine that is set on pumping out “culture war”-fueling stories about trans youth in sports instead of basic facts about these kids’ right to affirming care. Chip in here if you’re able.

Let’s win this. Let’s continue fighting for equality.

David
