In a new report obtained by CNN, Kevin McCarthy and Donald Trump spent the weekend courting Republican National Committee donors just down the street from Mar-a-Lago. Both Trump and McCarthy spoke to the room full of Republican millionaires about their plans for upcoming elections.
What Trump said: According to a person who attended the event, Trump pledged his support in helping the Republican Party take back the House and the Senate in 2022 -- and then followed it up with this -- “And in 2024, a Republican candidate is going to win the White House.”
In 2020, you stepped up big time and secured the White House for Joe Biden, flipped the Senate, and held on to the House. Because of you, Democrats have a razor-thin majority in Congress.
But Kevin McCarthy has already spent $11 million toward House races. And if he is already fundraising beside Donald Trump, it's because he is hoping to lead Congress along with Mitch McConnell. (Remember, he said earlier this year he would bet his own house that Republicans took the House in 2022).
We can make sure that doesn't happen -- we beat Trump, McCarthy, and McConnell once before. But right now, we're falling VERY SHORT of our fundraising goal - $4,659 short to be exact.
