We need leaders at all levels of government who aren’t afraid to take on police reform.

On Sunday, Daunte Wright was murdered by a police officer less than 10 miles from the courtroom where Derek Chauvin is on trial for killing George Floyd. This comes after a video surfaced of Army Lieutenant Caron Nazario being pepper sprayed and arrested without even being told why he was pulled over.

This is the latest evidence from just the past week that our public safety system is in desperate need of more accountability. As the Minneapolis community grieves and processes this trauma, the urgency for reform continues to grow.

The good news is, local leaders across the country are putting forward important reforms in their communities to address police accountability. That’s true in San Antonio where voters will soon be able to vote on Proposition B, a ballot initiative to boost accountability and transparency of our local police force.

People First Future is dedicated to electing more leaders who will fight for these reforms in their communities. But we need your help.

Last year, we elected every one of our People First Policing candidates, but our work is just beginning. Can you pitch in to help us elect more leaders with the courage to fight for police reform and an end to police violence?

It’s time we had leaders at the local, state, and federal levels who aren’t afraid to take on the issue of police reform. We’ve seen enough of these gut wrenching videos of especially young Black men being targeted, harassed, and abused by bad officers.

It is going to take a new generation of progressive leaders to overhaul our broken public safety system, and we’re going to help make it happen by identifying and supporting more People First Policing candidates.

Will you make a donation to support courageous candidates fighting to overhaul our broken policing system? Every single one of our People First Policing candidates won in 2020, and now we need to grow their ranks.

Thank you,

Julián
