Friend --

As you get your weekend started, I wanted to give you quick update on two issues: vaccine eligibility and school re-opening.?

Vaccine Eligibility Open to All DC Residents 16+

Beginning Monday, April 12, vaccine appointments will be open to all DC residents over the age of 16. That's huge news. If you aren't on the pre-registration list yet, I encourage you to jump on as soon as you can <[link removed]>. A few things to keep in mind:?

- When it is your turn, you'll receive an email update (unless you opt for a text or call) to book your appointment. You'll have 48 hours to do so before your appointment offer is rescinded and you are placed back in the waitlist.

- You should have choice of multiple times and locations, which includes different vaccine products.

**Important:?If you've pre-registered with DC for a COVID-19 vaccine, but you've already been able to get vaccinated, please contact the Call Center at 1-855-363-0333 or [email protected]?and let them know you can be removed from the waitlist. This is very important to help make the system reach the folks still waiting faster. Otherwise, when it is your turn, the system will still offer you an appointment.

DC Public Schools to Return to In-Person Fall 2021

As a DCPS parent, I was very glad to hear the announcement on Thursday that?they will? <[link removed]>fully reopen with in-person learning <[link removed]> for all students, every day in the fall for the 2021-2022 school year. Teachers will be back in the classroom and schools will be continuing to modify operations to provide layered protections from the spread of COVID-19.?The first day of school for students is August 30 and enrollment is now open at?[link removed] <[link removed]>. I'll note with the evolving availability of vaccines for school-aged students and the need to be flexible with different students' and families' needs, I expect and support maintaining some form of remote learning accommodations?as we continue to transition back.??

For charter schools, each school makes its own operational plans and more information on their status can be found through the Public Charter School Board here <[link removed]>.

Alright, just a quick update from me. Have a wonderful weekend. Keep wearing a mask and staying physically distant. DC still is recording too many new cases. We're close enough to the finish line with our vaccine that every new serious case and death from this virus is even more heartbreaking. Let's all be diligent.?
