Note from Chairman Stepanek Friend,
First, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to join us outside of Senator Maggie Hassan's office this past Tuesday, in defense of our First in the Nation Primary. Opportunities like this are an important channel for Granite Staters to make their voices heard - We are grateful for our volunteers and the time they spent representing this important cause.
I continue to urge everyone to reach out to our Senators regarding the S.1 bill (H.R.1) and the imminent danger it poses for Granite Staters. This bill will take away our ‘First in the Nation’ primary status, and we must share our deep opposition to this campaign. Our 'FITN' status is more than just a political tradition, and has remained an intricate part of our state's history for over a century. More so, our New Hampshire primary isn't a single party issue, but rather an opportunity for granite staters of every political background to come together in support of our political heritage.
While Democrat officials in DC are attempting to mask this bill as a positive move for voter expansion, they’re chipping away at the base of our Granite State’s election system. Our petition to defend our First-in-the-Nation Primary is still active, and I ask that you sign and share this petition with your networks. We need our Federal delegates to know how deeply we oppose this bill, and that we refuse to allow D.C legislators to take control over New Hampshire’s governing abilities and traditions. Please be sure to reach out to Senator Shaheen, and Senator Hassan to relay your concerns.
Additionally, this is the final weekend before the Merrimack Special Election, and we are inviting everyone to lend a hand in ensuring Bill Boyd's successful election! Tomorrow (April 10th), consider joining us at the Merrimack Transfer Station at 8:15am for a sign wave (Coffee and donuts will be provided on a limited first come first serve basis)! At 10am, we will wrap up our sign wave and knock doors on Bill's behalf throughout the afternoon. For further questions, reach out to [email protected] - We hope to see you there!
As a reminder, please encourage folks to subscribe to our newsletter, and if there’s anything you would like us to highlight, please reach out to [email protected]!
Sincerely, ![]() Stephen Stepanek NHGOP Chairman

Weekly Governor's Glance:
Senate Update from Senate President Morse Senate Report Card- Straight As!
This week, the New Hampshire Senate focused on education, passing a series of bills that would help improve our schools and give parents and students more tools to seek out the best education possible.
American Civics - HB 320 would require New Hampshire students to pass the civics naturalization examination developed by the 2020 United States Citizen and Immigration Services. We should ensure that anyone earning a high school diploma is an informed and prepared citizen. This test covers basic American history and government, such as the name of the first President, the role of three branches of government, and the protections included in the Bill of Rights.
Adequacy Standards - HB 242 amends the content of an adequate education, providing basic minimum standards for biology, physical science, earth science, civics and government, economics, geography, history, and personal finance literacy. We need to ensure that our students receive the core academic knowledge to prepare them to thrive in adulthood.
Academic Innovation - HB 609 would create Innovation Schools, giving local school officials the option to seek waivers from state requirements in order to create new ways to educate our students. By unleashing the power of innovation, we can give local school boards and administrators the flexibility to create methods of instruction, new courses, and whole new ways to reach students who are struggling under our calcified educational bureaucracy.
Assessment - HB 194 would enable the state Department of Education to share results from our annual assessment exams with parents whose school districts are reluctant to share this data in a timely manner. Parents need to know how their children are doing in order to make decisions about their educational futures. HB 194 would help give every parent more information about their children's academic progress.
In addition to the Education Freedom Accounts created under SB 130, these bills represent an education reform agenda that can revitalize New Hampshire schools and empower parents to make the right choices for every New Hampshire student.

![]() Republican Spotlight: Meet Representative Joe DePalma In this week’s Republican spotlight, we would like to highlight Joseph Depalma IV. Joe is from Littleton, New Hampshire and was a very active member of his community. He was class president, National Honor Society president and was on the varsity tennis team. He got his start in politics interning for the Littleton Town Manager, and came to develop a Tax Increment Financing plan to help his community with economic development.
He is now studying Business Administration at Plymouth State University. On top of that, he is running a farm he started at 15 years old, providing hops to local breweries in the area. He also works at his family’s storage facility. In December of 2020, Joseph was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives to represent Grafton, and is currently one of the youngest representatives in the state.
Thank you, Joe DePalma, for all the work you have been putting forth in the community. We are so happy to have driven and hardworking people like you involved with the republican party in New Hampshire. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for you!
NH Republican House Update: House Democrats Block Voters from Weighing in on Gun Control Measures
Bedford, NH- Representative Terry Roy (R-Deerfield) released the following statement after President Joe Biden issued several executive orders restricting 2nd amendment rights and House Democrats blocked CACR8 which would have given Granite Staters the opportunity to weigh in on new gun control measures.
"The day after New Hampshire Democrats in the House suppressed the vote, refusing to allow the citizens the opportunity to weigh in on stopping new gun control measures in New Hampshire and protecting them from Washington D.C. overreach, the Biden administration did just what we feared. Today, by executive fiat, Mr. Biden directed the ATF to take steps to make some of the most popular and common firearms in the Country illegal as well as moving on so called "Red Flag" laws. Part of the justification given for outlawing pistol braces was that they make pistols more accurate. It's against just these types of ludicrous, uninformed decisions that CACR8 would have protected New Hampshire citizens. In New Hampshire we prefer our firearms to be accurate but we are funny that way.”
“It's unfortunate that House Democrats fear the voice of the people of New Hampshire. If they took the time to listen to them as much as they listen to their National Party leaders they might actually understand what being a citizen of New Hampshire is all about; freedom, independence and self-governance."

House Republicans Pass Common Sense Election Integrity Bills
Bedford, NH- Assistant Majority Whip Maureen Mooney (R-Merrimack) released the following statement after the House passed a series of bills strengthening New Hampshire’s election integrity and transparency:
“House Republicans are continuing to lead in the effort to ensure New Hampshire maintains its reputation for clean and fair elections by promoting transparency and integrity in our process,” said Mooney. “Americans' confidence in our elections is at an all time low, but the passage of these bills is a small, but important step to restoring faith in the outcomes at the ballot box. It’s unfortunate that even common sense steps like ensuring removal of deceased individuals from the voter checklist and enhancing absentee ballot verification run into such staunch opposition. Despite our efforts to fight this ongoing issue, House Democrats will oppose even the most simple measures to make sure every ballot is cast by an eligible voter.”
