It’s been a wild week for Florida Republicans as they go out of their way to remind us how foolish they are, the latest? Marco Rubio gets all worked up about…the famously ”woke corporate hypocrites” of Major League Baseball(!?)

Georgia lawmakers have passed a 98-page bill that uses a 16-pronged approach to limit ballot access and suppress voters – primarily people of color, and those in lower-income communities:
1. Gives voters less time to request absentee ballots.
2. Creates strict ID requirements for absentee voters.
3. Makes it illegal for election officials to mail absentee ballots to all voters.
4. Ensures ballot drop boxes are scarce.
5. Bans mobile voting centers.
6. Expands early voting in less populated areas only.
7. Makes it a misdemeanor to offer food or water to people waiting in line to vote.
8. Toughens voter registration, making it more difficult to vote if you mistakenly arrive at the incorrect polling location.
9. Makes it more difficult to extend voting hours, even in the face of logistical problems experienced by election officials.
10. Changes vote-counting procedures to ensure that high-turnout elections yield long waits for election results.
11. Nods to far-right conspiracy theories by stating that election officials cannot accept third-party funding to run polling stations.
12. Creates an attorney general-managed voter fraud hotline.
13. Increases control by the Republican-controlled legislature over the State Election Board.
14. Removes the Secretary of State as a voting member of the State Election Board.
15. Allows the Republican-led legislature to suspect county election officials.
16. Accelerates the timelines of runoff elections, making them harder to manage.
Instead of criticizing this terrible piece of legislation, or, I don’t know , minding his business in Florida – Marco decided to criticize the MLB’s decision to recognize the Georgia voter suppression efforts by pulling the upcoming All-Star Game from Atlanta.
Further – he can’t just criticize MLB’s without tossing in some racist and xenophobic comments towards China in the midst of a crisis of hate crimes towards Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders across the United States.
This guy has no interest in protecting our democracy, or frankly, doing any other aspect of his job. He needs to be retired. Chip in $12 and help us get this crackerjack out of office. [[link removed]]
