Biden Proposes $2 Trillion Infrastructure Plan

“It is not a plan that tinkers around the edges. It is a once-in-a-generation investment in America,” President Joe Biden said Wednesday as he announced details of his $2 trillion plan to tackle long-ignored infrastructure issues and reshape the American economy. According to the New York Times, Biden said his initiatives will lead to "the most resilient, innovative economy in the world."

White House officials said the proposal’s combination of spending and tax credits would translate into 20,000 miles of rebuilt roads, repairs to the 10 most economically important bridges in the country, the elimination of lead pipes from the nation’s water supplies and a long list of other projects intended to create millions of jobs in the short run and strengthen American competitiveness in the long run. They said the plan would also accelerate the fight against climate change by hastening the shift to new, cleaner energy sources, and would help promote racial equality in the economy. Biden suggested increasing the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28% and imposing higher taxes on multinational companies to generate revenue for his infrastructure ideas.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel (R, KY) quickly announced that Republicans are opposed to the infrastructure plan and to the entire Democratic agenda. "I'm going to fight them every step of the way," McConnell said.

NHCDP will vote for new officers at the County Convention in April. In addition, we will vote on a dozen SEC members. If you are interested in serving or know someone who may want to serve, please contact any of the existing officers.
