Greg Sargent warned in The Washington Post that “Ron Johnson's vile new defense of Trump makes his defeat more urgent,” calling the Wisconsin senator “the single greatest purveyor of Trumpian disinformation in the U.S. Senate.”
That's not a hyperbole, not even close. Johnson, who serves on the Committee on Homeland Security and voted to acquit Trump, has spent the past few weeks attempting to sanitize Trump's role in the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
Johnson boldly claimed he “never felt threatened” by the majority-white rioters who stormed the Capitol and killed a police officer, because they were “people that love this country and truly respect law enforcement.” But according to him, if it had been “tens of thousands of Black Lives Matter … protestors, I might have been a little concerned.”
We can't think of another person we'd like to see removed from office in 2022 more than fascist and racist Ron Johnson, and we're hoping you feel the same way. With grassroots support, Wisconsin went blue for Biden in 2020. Now, we're working to build that same momentum to get Ron Johnson out in 2022.
Unfortunately, Johnson's racist tactics have been attracting a large crowd of corporate donors and a reinforced base of supporters, so we're facing an uphill battle when it comes to unseating him. This race will cost millions of dollars to win, and we're already thousands behind the GOP's dark money machine.
