Right now, the country has the opportunity to turn this democracy around with H.R. 1, or the For the People Act .

The "GQP" is continuing a decades-long crusade by Republicans to disenfranchise voters and keep certain populations (read: lower-income, women, people of color, union workers, etc.) from making their voices heard.

The Trump presidency and his enablers, like Senator Marco Rubio, have allowed fear-mongering and hate to amplify, accelerating these voter suppression efforts.

In the wake of the wins of the 2020 election, Democrats in Congress are committed to passing legislation like H.R. 1 to ensure every voice matters, and that voting is free, fair, and easy:

* automatic voter registration;
* new ethics rules;
* increased election security;
* an end to Republican gerrymandering (no more manufacturing red districts and guaranteed wins); and
* campaign finance reform (Marco and his NRA buddies aren't gonna like that).


The legislation has support from diverse issue-areas – from labor to conservationists – fans include: President Biden, the AFL-CIO, Common Cause, NAACP, Sierra Club, Center for Constitutional Rights, the League of Women Voters, the Brennan Center for Justice, End Citizens United, and the League of Conservation Voters,

H.R. 1 would be ground-breaking, and at Retire Rubio, we know it's our job to raise awareness and protect the narrow majorities in the House and Senate.
