Faith and Flourishing:

Strategies for Preventing and Healing Child Sexual Abuse

This is a marquee event for the April 8 World Day for Child Sexual Abuse Prevention, Healing and Justice. Engage with scholars, public health and mental health care professionals, child abuse prevention experts, and religious leaders of diverse faith traditions from across the globe to share experiences, discover new resources and identify strategies to prevent child sexual abuse and foster healing for survivors.

Hosted by the Harvard Institute for Qualitative Social Science, participants will be able to virtually access on-demand presentations from many experts in the field of child sexual abuse prevention, including MassKids Executive Director, Jetta Bernier, whose presentation, Enough Abuse Campaign To Prevent Child Sexual Abuse: A Model For Social Change will be included in the programs offered.

Senator Lovely is a fifth term Senator representing the Second Essex District and is a leading voice in the movement to end child sexual abuse.

Participants will learn how they can join MassKids' "Citizens to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse" advocacy initiative to ensure passage of these bills this legislative session.

Preventing and Addressing Trauma Virtual Conference

MassKids is a co-sponsor of this 8th Annual Symposium hosted by Salem State University's Center for Childhood and Youth Studies.

Morning keynotes will focus on trauma in children and families, trauma-informed organizations, and screening children for trauma. Presenters will include David Finkelhor, Director of the Crimes Against Children Research Center at the University of New Hampshire.

Afternoon sessions will include MassKids Executive Director, Jetta Bernier on the Trauma of Child Sexual Abuse on children's health/mental health, learning and academic achievement. Prevention strategies for schools, youth organizations and communities will be discussed. Carmen Durso, MassKids Board Member and legal expert on child sexual abuse cases, will present on The Law and Child Trauma and discuss legal interventions for individuals who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse. 

Registration is free but required, and CEUs are offered for $30.
