** PRESS RELEASE: Tibbott Announces his run for Position #3
------------------------------------------------------------

Today Neil Tibbott announced that he will be running for Position #3 to unseat the incumbent, Adrienne Fraley-Monillas. By returning to the Edmonds City Council, he reaffirms his commitment to return integrity to the council, protect those who live here and to preserve the character and vitality of this great city.

The Need for Change:

In making his announcement Tibbott said, “The need for a change on the city council has never been more apparent than it is right now. The citizens of Edmonds have an opportunity to look into their future and ask themselves if they like what they see. It is unfortunate that the incumbent has used her position to divide us at the very time we need to be working together.”

Regarding the way Neil works with others, Community Leader and former Verdant Executive Carl Zapora observed, “Neil makes good decisions and works to build trust, transparency and collaboration. He serves the citizens of Edmonds with integrity and openness. I have always been impressed by how approachable Neil is and how he listens to comments from all individuals. He takes his role as a public servant seriously and is most interested in how to improve the quality of life for current and future generations.”

Some personal priorities he shared during his announcement included:

· A commitment to ensure that elderly can afford to remain in their homes and young parents can afford to raise their families here.

· Preserving our environment and advancing our protections.

· Thoughtful development of neighborhoods around Highway 99.

· Safety and ensuring our police officers have the tools and training they need.

· Transparent government that allows residents to have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect them.

· Ensuring inclusion and accessibility for all who wish to live, work or visit here.

“If we are going to thrive together, we need to work together.” Tibbott

Closing Comments:

“I have visited every neighborhood in Edmonds and talked to thousands of families. I understand their frustration over national and local politics and how politicians have divided us. It is through these conversations that I have come to understand and appreciate what we all share; a passion for this community, the desire to protect what we love, and fix what is broken. That is my commitment to the people of Edmonds.”
