When Amy Coney Barrett was nominated to fill Justice Ginsburg’s seat on the Supreme Court, Trump and Senate Republicans gaslit us when we pointed out the obvious threat she posed to Roe v. Wade. Now, Republican governors are admitting it: they’re passing unconstitutional abortion bans to give the Supreme Court an opportunity to roll back abortion rights.

John -- the right to safe, legal abortion is at risk as long as there’s a 6-3 Republican supermajority on the Supreme Court. Three conservative justices have already proven they’re ready to overturn Roe v. Wade -- and they have since been joined by two more Trump-appointed justices with staunchly anti-choice records.
Just a few months ago in January, the Supreme Court reversed a rule that protected safe access to medication abortion during the pandemic. There are many more abortion-related cases just steps away from reaching the Court.
We can’t let Republican governors like Asa Hutchinson manipulate the law to reverse our constitutional rights. We must protect reproductive freedom by restoring the ideological balance to the Supreme Court. Adding seats would ensure the Court is balanced out with justices who respect precedent and our constitutional rights.
