Friends,
Last week, the NRA tweeted their joy over a case in Boulder, Colorado where a judge struck down the city’s prohibition on assault weapons. Just look at this:
Six days later, a gunman walked into a supermarket with what has been reported to be an AR-15 style rifle, and killed 10 people including a police officer.
Hours later, the NRA took to their Twitter account and taunted the millions of Americans who are outraged about the epidemic levels of gun violence the NRA enables.
Normally the NRA has the sense to stay silent for at least a few days after mass shootings. But instead, increasingly forced to rely on a smaller and smaller number of supporters, they trolled the millions of Americans who wanted action so they could get a few re-tweets. Just like Trump.
But together, we can defeat them. And in this case, winning means saving lives. So we’re asking:
There is a lot of political division in this country, but on this issue the American people of all party affiliations — Democrats, Independents and Republicans — are united: we want change that will make our communities safer from gun violence.
All our best,
The team at Giffords
