Hi team,

Mitch McConnell has been doing everything he can to stop Democrats from abolishing the filibuster -- and last Tuesday, he made his strongest threat yet.

"Let me say this very clearly for all 99 of my colleagues: Nobody serving in this chamber can even begin to imagine what a completely scorched-earth Senate would look like," he said in a Senate floor speech. "None of us have served one minute in a Senate that was completely drained of comity and consent."

But... haven't they, though? As majority leader, Mitch McConnell ground the Senate to a complete halt. He blocked everything the House sent and left countless Obama nominees waiting for months and years on end. We're pretty sure he couldn't do anything worse.

No. 2 Senate Democrat Dick Durbin called McConnell out on just that point: "He has already done that. He's proven he can do it, and he will do it again."

So what are Democrats waiting for? As long as Republicans can filibuster in the Senate, we will never see an end to gerrymandering, people of color will continue to have their voting rights diminished, health care costs will continue to rise, and the earth will continue to get warmer with no considerable action for us to stop it. Mitch McConnell is in the MINORITY and still calling the shots because of the filibuster.

The Dems are still split on the issue -- but here is the good news. After spending the 2020 cycle funding the Democrats who make our majorities in both houses, we're prepared to call on them to do the right thing and abolish the filibuster. But we need you to make it happen.
