Texas Republicans have done more than almost any other state to keep voters away from the ballot box -- and in a desperate attempt to keep Democrats from succeeding in 2022, they're doubling down.

As The Washington Post warns, the Texas GOP's latest barrage of voter suppression bills are nothing short of a "war on democracy": Closing polling places early to stop shift workers from voting. Requiring pages of documentation to cast an absentee ballot. Banning outdoor voting. Eliminating mass voting sites. Cutting off ballot drop boxes. And on, and on, and on.

Stacey Abrams has been raising alarm bells about this -- because it's not just happening in Texas. Around the country, Republicans are scrambling to take back Congress by force through rampant voter suppression and disenfranchisement.

Earlier this month, Abrams called out three other states for their sabotage: "There is a coordinated attack on voting rights. GOP-led legislatures in GA, AZ & NH are pushing dozens of bills to make it harder for people of color & young people to vote."

We have to make sure that doesn't happen. We were successful in electing progressive candidates who promised to defend our voting rights -- but now we need to ensure they follow through on their promises. But right now as we up our fight, we're falling VERY SHORT of our fundraising goals. Fighting voter suppression takes massive resources, and if we don't have the funds -- like today, where we sit $1,762 behind our daily goal as of this writing -- we can't suit up for every fight like we want to.
