Dear Young Democrats,

Last Sunday, some of you joined us as we watched Crip Camp ([link removed]) , a documentary about the people who fought for disability rights, culminating in the Americans with Disabilities Act. One of the major things I took away from the movie was that a small group of passionate people can really make huge changes. I encourage you to never think of your power as too small to make change.

Secondly, it also reinforced my belief that it is not okay to sacrifice marginalized groups because it is expensive or inconvenient. We must take it for granted that everyone needs to be included, and we must constantly work to make it true.

I carry these thoughts with me as I think about the mass shooting in Atlanta. I think about the Democratic spaces where I've experienced anti-Asian racism, but it wasn't addressed because it was inconvenient. I think about how we felt powerless to change things in the face of the leadership.

Within the King County Young Democrats, I am working and will continue to work towards what we envision the Democratic Party could be. A Democratic Party that is inclusive by default. A Democratic Party that does not make people feel like a burden for speaking up for their rights. Our group is small, but it is not too small to make change. I hope you will join us.

Yuan Tao
KCYD Chair

** March Meet-up: Black Radical Leftism
------------------------------------------------------------
Join us for our monthly membership meeting on March 28, 4-5pm. Our board members Matthew Lang and Niko Battle will discuss the differences between Black radical leftism and White radical leftism. As with last month, this is not a panel discussion. We want to hear from you! Our monthly meet-ups are an opportunity to have some genuine conversation and to get to meet other young Democrats.
