Dear friends and allies,

Community Labor United is deeply pained by the recent events in Atlanta, Georgia ([link removed]) , against the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. For the past year, Stop AAPI Hate ([link removed]) received reports of a total of 3,795 hate crime incidents ([link removed]) , and that number continues to rise in 2021. Our communities need to stand together against racism, white supremacy, and misogynistic views and actions.

Join us and our partners on March 25 at 6 p.m. for a Town Hall on Anti-Asian Racism ([link removed]) , highlighting how the Asian American community in Massachusetts is organizing against racism. Please
check out this statement from our sisters and brothers in the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) ([link removed]) and here are a few organizations ([link removed]) you can contribute to #StopAsianHate.

Below, you will find opportunities to engage and continue the fight on many issues that affect our communities. Please help us spread the word by sharing our
Facebook ([link removed]-) posts as well as following and retweeting us on Twitter ([link removed]-) . You can also receive regular updates from CLU by signing up on our website ([link removed]) .

Online Rally: Stop the Cuts

During today’s online rally ([link removed]) , Senator Elizabeth Warren, Representative Katherine Clark, and Senator Joseph Boncore joined workers and riders of the Public Transit Public Good ([link removed]) coalition, to stand up to the Baker-Polito administration and the MBTA. Together, we demanded the MBTA roll back unnecessary service cuts ([link removed]) , the most recent of which were implemented last weekend.

We hope that you will join us and demand an end to the MBTA cuts.

Tell the FMCB that cuts are unacceptable when the MBTA is getting another $1 billion in new federal aid. Call or email today! 857-368-1655 (Leave a message) or
[email protected].
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021
March 17 – is the official “payment date" for new stimulus check payments approved under the federal government’s new $1.9 trillion stimulus ([link removed]) legislation. Millions of Americans will be getting a stimulus payment deposited into their bank account this week. Plus, people who received a “pending” or “provisional” payment over the past few days should also have access to their funds today. If you're not sure whether you're getting a payment today, you can find out by using the IRS's “Get My Payment” ([link removed]) tool.

MCRA 2021 Story Collection
Since the beginning of COVID-19, essential workers have been struggling to stay afloat, whether it regarded child care, housing, or public education – all while urging the MA legislature to provide a more equitable reopening plan. The Massachusetts COVID-19 Response Alliance ([link removed]) would like to capture the stories of those directly impacted and affected by COVID-19. Join against the fight today and tell by sharing your story ([link removed]) of how COVID-19 has affected your life, family, and/or employment.

Matahari: Ask your legislators to support eliminating sub-minimum wages!
Recently, the One Fair Wage bill was filed with the Massachusetts legislature to end the sub-minimum wage for restaurant workers. Thanks to Senator Patricia Jehlen (D-Somerville) and Representatives Tricia Farley-Bouvier (D-Pittsfield) & Brandy Fluker-Oakley (D-Mattapan), HD. 3462 ([link removed]) & SD. 1811
([link removed]) are ready for co-sponsors. This represents a big step forward as we fight for a $15 minimum wage plus tips for service workers but as always it is only one piece of the puzzle. Send a letter to urge your legislators to cosponsor the bill using Matahari’s quick advocacy tool ([link removed]) .

Matahari: Vaccine Access for all Domestic Workers
Significantly, a majority of domestic workers are women of color, and we have seen in Massachusetts how immigrant communities of color have been the state's hardest-hit during COVID-19. Join the Matahari Workers’ Center by taking action and signing their letter ([link removed]) to urge Governor Baker to call for the inclusion of ALL domestic workers in Phase 2 of the state’s vaccination rollout.

Thank you for reading and taking action!

In Solidarity,
Community Labor United
