My thoughts are with the victims of last night’s shootings in Atlanta and with their families.

We’re still learning the full scope of what happened, but it appears one man shot and killed eight people at multiple locations, targeting Asian American women.

This massacre comes after reports of more than 3,000 hateful attacks on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders since the start of the pandemic. Make no mistake: these are hate crimes intended to stoke fear and racism — frequently fueled by bigotry from Donald Trump.

On last week’s episode of my podcast Our America, I spoke to Cynthia Choi, the founder of Stop AAPI Hate, a national coalition addressing the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, about what’s happening.

I encourage you to take time to listen to our conversation and hear from Cynthia about how we can stand in solidarity to confront this crisis. Click here to listen. [[link removed]]

As a nation, we must stand united in the fight against violent bigotry, especially as we confront the global crisis of this pandemic. Thank you for being in this fight.
