Friend — it’s no secret that COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted communities of color. Discrimination in our health care system has continuously denied Black and brown people the access to the quality care they need.

There is a lack of trust between underserved communities and health care workers that has hurt our ability to stop the virus. It’s clearer than ever that we must address these issues and include communities of color at the local level.

That's why Barbara introduced the COVID Community Care Act — legislation that would empower local organizations to address mistrust of public health information and provide life-saving services to fight COVID-19.
