John — Senator Cory Booker and I reintroduced my resolution calling for a Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Commission to address and reconcile the brutal history and legacy of racism in the United States.

This resolution is the first of its kind and an opportunity to set our nation on a path of healing — will you sign your name to show your support?

It’s been over 400 years since the first enslaved African arrived in the United States, yet 400 years later our nation is still grappling with deep-rooted racism, inequality, and white supremacy.

The current pandemic and the murder of George Floyd and countless other Black and brown people at the hands of the police have shown us racism is still present in all of our institutions.

It’s time our country takes a long, self-reflective look at its history that has allowed these race-based inequalities to translate from our past to our present. The Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Commission will be a critical tool to begin building a more just and equitable future and ensure that future for all.
