The virtual #FundOurFutures rally is tomorrow from 4-7pm – at a key moment in Minnesota’s legislative session.

Any day now, Minnesota Management and Budget will release our state’s 2021-22 budget forecast, and Minnesota legislators will find out exactly how much money they have to work with this session.

We need to tell our elected leaders to invest in us, share the wealth, and fund our futures – no matter what the forecast says.

During the pandemic, we saw people in the lowest wage industries – primarily Black and brown people – lose their jobs while those at the top only got richer: $3.9 trillion dollars richer. Why? Our policies allow white elites to hoard the wealth.

The pandemic has hit our communities and our economy hard, but no matter what the budget forecast reveals, a handful of greedy corporations will fight to ensure they don’t pay their fair share in taxes – and some politicians will back them up. They’ll try to divide us by claiming there’s not enough to go around – and blame our hardships on Black people and new immigrants.

But we see through their tactics, and we can change the rules.
