Tax the rich.
Dear John,
You may have seen this on our Twitter feed a while back: two side-by-side Business Insider stories showing that billionaires made $3.9 trillion during the COVID-19 pandemic – while workers lost $3.7 trillion. Women and young people have seen the biggest losses.
Enough. We want a tax system that shares the wealth and funds our futures. That’s how we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s how we create the infrastructure we need to care for each other.
Rally with us online this Thursday from 4-7pm to demand a tax system and budget that work for all of us – not just the people at the top. Register here for the Zoom link.
The timing of our rally is strategic. Minnesota Management and Budget is expected to release their February budget forecast any day. That’s when legislators know how much money they’re working with this session.
No matter what the forecast says, to recover from this pandemic, we need to invest in Minnesotans right now. We can’t afford to let those at the top get richer while the rest of us suffer.
Join us Thursday from 4-7pm to make it clear to lawmakers that Minnesotans want a budget that reflects our values: we have enough, and we care for each other. Register for the Zoom link now.
Reply to this email with event accessibility requests. Can’t wait to see you there.
In solidarity,
Laura
