Don’t let Sacramento’s rush-job hearings kill our single-family streets. Legislators led by Scott Wiener, who called yards “immoral,” want to end single-family zoning, jamming 8- to 10-unit projects (no garages or yard) where 1 home sits now. San Diego to Huntington Park, South LA to Ventura. Oakland to Redding, neighborhoods will be taken, lot by lot, under SB 9 and SB 10.

Let’s beat the developers and investors who are drooling to buy up single-family areas. Individuals, block groups, or neighborhood groups must write NOW to hamper the rush-job underway at the Senate Housing Committee.

Use the legislative portal to submit your Opposition letters to SB 9 and SB10 to the committees that will soon be hearing these bills:

  • Lobbyists are flooding the “Legislature Position Letters Portal.” YOU have great sway by writing in, too. The Portal is linked HERE.

  • Be armed with 2 letters: one against SB 9, one against SB 10. PDF or Word.

  • Letters from groups, even block clubs, have more impact than individuals. Legislators worry when they hear from groups opposed.

  • How do you write your group Portal Letter? Put a letterhead and address at top, a signature at bottom. To create a free signature, scroll to end of this page: https://www.docusign.com/esignature/free-electronic-signature

  • Your letterhead can be any name you choose, such as Neighbors of West Valley. Your group need not be officially recognized by anyone but your members.

  • Points against SB 9 are here. Use your own words.

  • Points against SB 10 are here. Use your own words:

  • The Letters Portal is a crucial tool to influence legislators. While “designed” for the public, using it the first time can be a hurdle. That’s why lobbyists love it! Watch this painless video of each step to sign up and upload your letters. Once signed up, the Portal is EASY!

  • If you are having trouble using the Portal, please join us Sat. Feb. 27, 10 am, for “TRAINING TO CRACK THE PORTAL.” Teleconference. Attendance is limited. To request an invite, you must email us at: [email protected]

Also contact your individual legislators:

  • Call and Zoom your own legislator NOW. Yes, they agree to Zoom with residents all the time. Give a ring. Seriously. Here’s how to find your own two legislators.
