Hi John, Power Shift 2021 starts just 8 short weeks from today, and wow is momentum building!
Last week, Destiny Hodges, Founder and Co-ED of PSN member organization Generation Green, got to write an op-ed in Teen Vogue about her experiences as a Black woman in the climate movement. It was in that piece that she also got to announce that she will be speaking with the one and only Dr. Angela Davis at Power Shift 2021!
Angela Davis is a foundational voice in linking feminism, the violence of the US prison system, and Black liberation to issues across the political landscape. In conversation with Jamie Margolin, Co-founder of Zero Hour, Destiny and Angela Davis will discuss lessons learned from Dr. Davis’s decades of activism, and how we can bring that experience to the movement for climate justice.
Our programming team is working diligently to plan skills-building trainings, powerful popular education workshops, and impactful panels to empower, resource, and equip young leaders to build projects and campaigns powerful enough to meet the urgency of the realities of the climate crisis that millions across Texas and the rest of the country are facing right now.
At PS21, thousands of young activists will participate in political education that builds connections between climate justice and other forms of systemic oppression. This political education will be foundational for young folks to learn about movement building, healing justice, and the history of people-powered movements.
Dozens of young people across the country are working to build partnerships with organizations nationwide and registering attendees for the convergence.
