Ted Cruz was caught sneaking off to Cancun in the middle of Texas's power crisis. Texas Governor Greg Abbott is lying about the cause of the blackouts. Meanwhile, millions of people lack clean drinking water and are without power in sub-zero temperatures.
What is happening in Texas right now is the result of disastrous policy, egregious deregulation, and inept leadership from elected officials.
The crisis was preventable and has highlighted the importance of who we elect. In 2020, we endorsed six women running for office and mobilized young women voters to turn out in Texas. We're not giving up.
That's why we're helping Beto O'Rourke's organization, Powered by People (PBP). It has contacted over 76 million voters in the past year, registered hundreds of thousands more, and directly helped local races. Now, PBP has mobilized their volunteers to makes hundreds of thousands of calls to senior citizens to connect them to resources like warming centers and clean water during this crisis.
