John,

“If the people are well, the environment follows.” – Vasco van Roosmalen, ECAM

The Brazilian Amazon is home to 30 million people who depend on the Amazon region and almost 1 million of them are “the Quilombola” - descendants of African people who were kidnapped and enslaved, then escaped to form their own independent settlements in the forests and savannas of the Brazilian interior. After centuries of preserving their culture and fighting for their rights, the descendants of these communities are key allies in saving the Amazon and other critical ecosystems. Join us Wednesday, February 24 1-2:30pm ET ([link removed]) for a webinar brought to you direct from their home in Brazil. We will hear from key leaders from the National Quilombola Organization in Brazil – CONAQ - and learn about the UTU Social Impact Investment Fund that will transform the future for the Quilombola and has the potential to scale the transformation of our climate and environment. #HumanAmazon
