During the recent MDCNY mayoral forum, Dianne expressed an emphatic “NO” when asked if she thought the governor had handled the pandemic well. She was the only candidate during her round to say so. That has long been apparent, but we're only now learning about just how far Cuomo went to obscure the reality of the pandemic in New York.

We now have proof of what many have suspected all along: Governor Cuomo has failed New Yorkers, especially our most vulnerable. More than 15,000 older adults died painfully and alone in nursing homes while Cuomo’s administration covered it up. Just today, he had the opportunity to take full responsibility for his actions and failed to do so. 

As Mayor, Dianne's unwavering commitment will be to ALL New Yorkers, no matter the adversary. We CAN build a city where everyone gets the support they need. We do not demand perfection from our elected leaders, but we do demand transparency and moral clarity. Elected officials doing their job does not excuse them from accountability when they make mistakes — or when they engage in corrupt behavior. 

Now is not the time to be fearful. It is time to confront the status quo. We cannot afford to make back-room deals with Cuomo and hope he will hold up his end of the bargain, because too often, he has abdicated his responsibility to the People.
