The Senate just voted to
acquit Donald Trump after he sought to overturn an election and incited a deadly insurrection at the Capitol last month.
Let me be very clear, John: Donald Trump violated his oath of office. He betrayed this country and put members of Congress, the Vice President of the United States, and our democracy in harm's way. And he must be held accountable and prevented from further damaging our democracy.
But today, the majority of GOP senators put their political ambitions ahead of the safety of our country and the sanctity of our democracy by voting to acquit Trump.
They might not be willing to hold Donald Trump accountable, but you can rest assured that I will, John.
The Senate let him off the hook, but the fight isn't over.
