Though the NC General Assembly still has a long way to go before reaching gender parity, we're glad to see a growing number of progressive women in leadership positions. Rep. Gale Adcock is the Deputy Democratic Leader in the House, and her colleague Rep. Vernetta Alston is Co-Chair of the Freshman Caucus. Reps. Deb Butler and Susan Fisher serve as Democratic Whips. Advancing gender equity in politics means not only electing more women, but also elevating their voices and seeing them as the face of power!
