John,

Right now, one-third of all wildlife species in the United States are at increased risk of extinction. Declining species like the endangered whooping crane urgently need proactive, local conservation efforts before they pass the point of no return.

The first step toward making those efforts a reality begins today. Saving whooping cranes and thousands of other species at risk of extinction requires unprecedented on-the-ground, collaborative conservation efforts that match the magnitude of the wildlife crisis. The newly introduced Recovering America’s Wildlife Act would do just that!

Please tell your member of Congress to save America’s vulnerable wildlife by supporting the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act.

There are only about 400 whooping cranes left in the wild—one single flock that migrates between Texas and Canada. This majestic species, once abundant across North America, was decimated by habitat loss and unregulated hunting. Efforts are underway now to reintroduce and establish a migratory population in Wisconsin and a non-migratory population in Louisiana.

Sadly, whooping cranes face a very real risk of extinction if our leaders in Washington fail to support the needed recovery efforts such as habitat restoration and breeding programs. That’s where the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act comes in—this landmark program would empower wildlife conservation efforts at the state, local, and tribal level to help at-risk wildlife recover and thrive again.

Let’s make sure that whooping cranes never plummet toward extinction. And let’s protect our backyard wildlife like monarch butterflies, fireflies, bats, turtles, bumblebees, and beloved songbirds.

Are you with us?

Please take 10 seconds to ask your member of Congress to support the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act and address severe wildlife conservation challenges such as habitat loss, competition from invasive species, disease, climate impacts, and other threats.

Under our current system, our current leaders in Washington are simply not investing enough to save at-risk and vulnerable wildlife. States and tribal nations now are receiving less than 5 percent of what they need to help wildlife in decline.

The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act would change that. It will save thousands of wildlife species by providing states, territories and tribes with the resources necessary to restore critical habitat and implement key conservation strategies through collaborative, on-the-ground work to protect and recover at-risk wildlife.

We’re in a race against time to avert the wildlife crisis. Take action today. Urge your member of Congress to co-sponsor this much-needed wildlife conservation legislation.

Thank you for all you do to ensure a future for all of America’s wildlife.
