Today, the Senate kicks off a second Trump impeachment trial, and all eyes are on the GOP.

Are they going to point fingers, scream out baseless conspiracy theories, and shed crocodile tears for their Dear Leader, Trump? Or are they going to do the right thing and punish the man who’s responsible for inciting an armed insurrection on January 6th? You already know the answer.

But here’s why it matters — Trump’s legal defense is weak. They want to shout “freedom of speech” and claim that an impeachment trial is “unconstitutional.” It’s nothing more than a circus show.

We all witnessed the chaos and destruction on January 6th. And the lies that led up to the insurrection. We all witnessed Trump tell his supporters to “fight like hell” hours before five people were killed.

There is no other way around it: Trump is guilty. So any Republican who stands up for this indefensible man is betraying their country, the American people, and democracy.

They will always be remembered as traitors.
