John,
This week, we celebrated GEAR UP week in Manchester. GEAR UP is a program that we began at the start of 2019 because of a generous grant from the New Hampshire College and University Council that is working to help our students become more college and career ready. Between the GEAR UP grant, new programs like Velcro University and Eversource Academy, and passing a budget that included the largest increase in funding for our public schools in 14 years, we're standing up for Manchester students and ensuring every child has access to a quality education. Together, we're bringing new opportunities to our schools and improving the education we're providing to our children.
Thank you for your continued support!
Best,
Joyce

National Voter Registration Day
|
|
Voting is one way to express ourselves as a community. But, to exercise this basic right, you must be registered to vote. We celebrated registering to vote on Tuesday with National Voter Registration Day, but you can still register to vote at the City Clerk's office or at the polls on Election Day.

Happy GEAR UP Week, Manchester!
GEAR UP will support more than 2,000 students from Manchester who will receive services to ensure they’re college and career ready.
I’m proud to recognize them for their work this week, and look forward to all of their work in the district over the next 7 years.

Welcoming students from the MANEX German Exchange Program
|
|
I had a great time welcoming students from the MANEX German Exchange Program earlier this week!
We talked about Manchester, our government, and education here in the United States. The MANEX program is a fantastic addition to the Manchester School District -- and is even something my daughter participated in while she was at Central.
I wish all students the best as they continue to visit Manchester!

Annual NH Veteran Stand Down
|
|
On Thursday, I had the privilege of serving lunch at the Annual NH Veteran Stand Down.
Stand Down events provide supplies and services to veterans, including food, shelter, clothing and health screenings.
It was an honor to be there in support of the men and women who gave so much for our country. Thank you to Manchester VA Medical Center, Liberty House Veterans Transitional Living and everyone else at McIntyre today who was there to assist our local vets.

Manchester Recovery and Treatment Center open house celebrates healing

The Manchester Recovery and Treatment Center celebrated an open house earlier this month with staff, dignitaries and donors in attendance.
“The Manchester Recovery and Treatment Center is a prime example of what can be accomplished when private organizations, community leaders, public officials and individuals work together toward a common goal and vision,” Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig said at the open house. “By having multiple resources available in one place, we are able to lower the barriers for individuals seeking care.” [Read More]

Final state budget deal passes easily |
|
Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig said the final spending plan will deliver to her city $23 million of increased state aid.
“Our community is stronger when we work together and the state budget compromise demonstrates the positive impact we can have when we put our differences aside to do what’s in the best interest of Granite Staters,” Craig said in a statement.
“Through smart investments in education, mental health, and substance use disorder treatment, this budget will have a tremendous impact on the lives of Manchester residents.” [Read More]
