Dear John,

After eight years of leading NARAL, I have decided it’s time to move on — I’ll be here through the end of May to ensure a smooth transition of leadership. I have loved every single thing about serving in this position and know that for NARAL to keep evolving and thriving, it’s crucial to periodically bring in new leadership with fresh ideas. I couldn’t be more excited to pass the baton to the next leader because they will be so lucky to join this incredible team.

I have always said that our members are our super power! Over the last eight years, it’s been the joy of a lifetime to travel across the country and work with you on legislation and elections to build real power that ensures reproductive freedom truly is for every body. As for me, I’ll always be cheering NARAL on and will miss this organization dearly, but I’m ready to tackle new challenges and opportunities.

Our ranks have grown steadily, and as we enter this next chapter — we are stronger in number, commitment, and skill. There’s no question that this team is going to do great things to leverage the opportunities presented by the last election.

I came to NARAL deeply committed to reproductive freedom and knowing that the majority of this country agreed that every body should be free to make their own decisions. Together, we’ve transformed the national conversation about abortion to spotlight the 77% of Americans who support the legal right to abortion and to expose the disinformation tactics of the Radical Right.

Our smart state and federal legislative campaigns have allowed us to go on offense--even while playing defense — and steadily build political power that blossomed into the largest electoral program in the organization’s history this past cycle. We couldn’t have done this without you — your emails, your calls, your contributions, your advocacy, and your steadfast support.

Our organization is ready to meet the existing and emerging threats to reproductive freedom, and I know that NARAL’s future is bright and will be stronger than ever because of you. Thank you for believing in me, NARAL’s mission, and our work. We will share more as things in the search process progress over the coming weeks and months.
