Team -

As we begin Black History Month, the headlines celebrating our
Black heroes and history-makers have sat alongside headlines like
this:

Black voters were crucial to Joe Biden's victory in states like
Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, and more - and the incredible
organizing of Black advocates, and particularly Black women, in
Georgia's runoff elections flipped the Senate to Democratic
control.

Republicans are livid that their years of gerrymandering and
voter suppression and intimidation didn't work this time around -
so they're doubling down on these tactics ahead of 2022 - tactics
that disproportionately harm communities of color.

We need the John Lewis Voting Rights Act now. We need
legislation to protect the right to vote for ALL Americans in
EVERY community. Will you add your name in support of this
critical legislation today?

Polling places have been shuttered, polling hours slashed, Black
voters have been purged from voter rolls, and burdensome voter ID
laws have been passed in states across the country - all in an
attempt to suppress Black voters from exercising their right to
vote.

There would be no better way to honor the life of John Lewis -
who shed blood so that the Voting Rights Act of 1965 could become
law - and all the Black trailblazers who fought for our democracy
right up through 2021 than by expanding access to the ballot box
for all Americans.

Add your name to my petition to support critical democracy
reform legislation in Congress. There's no better time to double
down on the progress we've made and fulfill the promise of our
democracy for all voters.
