Our service members proudly represent the diversity and values of our country. But, discrimination, prejudice, and bias is still ever present in the ranks of the armed forces.

Under the Trump administration, 76% of V.A. employees surveyed said they’d “experienced racially charged actions” on the job, figures show that staff members of color were disproportionately fired, and there are few Black and racially diverse officers in top leadership. This environment, made worse by Trump, must change NOW.

We have the responsibility to demand fair and equal treatment of all employees — we cannot allow the unjust mistreatment and prejudice against Black staff, service members, and veterans — which was so prevalent under President Trump — to continue.

As we launch this new administration and celebrate Black voices during Black History Month, we need to make changes to create a more equal military for all.
