I’m sure we can agree that no one who works full time in America should have to raise their family in poverty.

But the harsh truth is that a parent who is the sole breadwinner for their family and is working full-time and earning the minimum wage today does not earn enough to bring that family above the federal poverty line.

That’s unacceptable — and must be changed.

That’s why we need to raise the minimum wage to make it a living wage. Right now we don’t have the votes to win this fight in the Senate. But, we are closer than we’ve been in years and we need to push hard to make this happen.

The minimum wage hasn’t been increased since 2009. That’s just not right.
