This past week President Joe Biden decided to celebrate the preeminent day of the pro-life movement (the March for Life) by rescinding the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance Policy, also known as the Mexico City Policy.

This executive order goes against a supermajority of Americans who don’t believe taxpayer funds should be used to perform or promote abortion in other countries.

A recent Marist poll from this year found that more than 3/4ths of Americans agree that public funds should not be used to finance abortion in other countries. This includes 85% of independents – 55% of Democrats – and 64% of pro-choice respondents; highlighting how extreme and out of touch this policy shift truly is. 

Waiting to sign the order so it would coincide with the 47th March for Life is more than rubbing salt in the wound — it’s horribly offensive and the opposite of the unity called for in President Biden’s Inaugural Address.

Unfortunately this looks to be only the opening salvo of what will be a dedicated campaign by the Biden Administration over the coming months against all basic restrictions on abortion.
