Donald Trump wants to start a new third party: The Patriot Party.
He's already begun tapping top aides to build their strategy to take on Republicans like Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.), Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), and Rep. Tom Rice (S.C.) for crossing him in the months since the 2020 presidential election.
Listen, we don't need to remind you that a new Trump-backed party is the LAST thing we need at the moment. All of our efforts and energy should be focused on healing and rebuilding from the damage Trump and his allies inflicted upon our nation over the past four years.
We've got BIG plans for 2021: We want to hire a new team before April and begin the process of recruiting out-of-work campaign staffers to help us expand the Democratic majority in 2022.
But look, in 2010 and 2014, Republicans CRUSHED Democrats at the polls -- and we can't grow complacent under a Biden administration. We may have defeated Donald Trump, but that doesn't mean fascism went with him.
The only way we'll combat the threat of a new Trumpian Party and unseat the Republican Trump loyalists still lurking in Congress is to keep organizing and building our movement.
Unfortunately, we've fallen short of our fundraising goals, and if we don't close the gap, we won't be able to launch this next critical phase of our efforts.
