As the DLCC’s Director of Data & Analytics, I wanted to provide you with the latest developments in electoral races across the country – and our path to victory in several key states.

The stakes are incredibly high this election. Should Republicans win, our country could take dramatic steps back on many progressive issues. Gun violence, reproductive services, Medicaid and health care coverage, action on climate change; these are just some issues that could be under threat with the GOP in power.

But if grassroots supporters continue rallying around Democrats, we can build on our 2018 success, win this upcoming election, and begin the trajectory of new, innovative solutions to confront our nation’s most pressing challenges.

Here’s what the latest data is showing in six important states – states in which both parties are vying for control.Trump and the national GOP leaders have already begun taking the necessary steps and funnelling in large sums of cash, which has already shown unnerving trends for Democratic wins.

And something to remember: in many states, the party that controls the legislature after 2020 will be in charge of drawing new lines for state and congressional districts. This election is the most important in a decade – and it will determine exactly who holds power for the next generation.

To counter this heavy GOP fundraising push, a group of progressive donors have pledged to match every single donation five-to-one. But the deadline is over at midnight Tuesday.

Will you donate whatever amount you can today to help us drive up turnout in Democratic areas and persuade voters in battleground states across the country?

We need help immediately in Virginia, where every single state legislative seat is up in just 40 days – on November 5!

We must immediately expand our voter outreach in the Richmond suburbs, Blacksburg, Newport News, and Tidewater. Charlottesville is also a top target. We're organizing to win big in the city that was the site of the white supremacist rally that left one person dead, several injured, and Donald Trump saying there were "very fine people on both sides."

The battleground states of Michigan and Pennsylvania also need a massive grassroots push. These two states accounted for our loss in 2016 because we didn’t get enough voters to the polls. This can’t happen again. Our organizers know exactly who to turn out – Democrats just need the resources to execute.

Additionally, if we’re going to win, we cannot allow Minnesota to turn red in 2020. Donald Trump lost Minnesota by a mere 1.5% and Republicans are pouring in money to win the state. But we have an opportunity to flip the state Senate by winning just two GOP-held seats. This win would give Democrats control of the state House, state Senate, and the governor’s office.

Finally, we must compete in Arizona. Both of the state’s chambers are within grasp for 2020. By raising enough money, we are building a comprehensive outreach program that will help coalesce rural Democratic voters, register thousands of new voters, and increase turnout in Democratic hubs like Phoenix and Tucson.
