We've been here before. After Reconstruction and the Civil Rights Movement, Americans let their guard down to the threat racism and bigotry posed. And we are currently reeling from these previous generations who rolled over and went back to sleep.

But on January 6, 2021, the sleeping nation was jolted awake. America saw thousands of white people who shared only one thing in common: a desire to smother any embers of a smoldering dream of a racially just United States.

It was clear as the high definition footage of the Jan. 6 attack that showed Confederate flags in the Capitol -- America's white supremacy problem hadn't gone away. The nation just went back to sleep.

But there's hope: our country has always pushed back and resisted the practice of white supremacy and white nationalism. Our nation's bravest heroes -- the likes of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and John Lewis -- have always fought back. In America, white supremacist violence has always met resistance of all kinds.

And When Democrats Turn Out is resisting. We've taken the first step by electing leaders who will stand up to racism. But we won't sleep until we've done everything possible to ensure every elected official who turned their head when he spewed racist dog whistles and racism loses their position.

We aren't alone. Countless Americans have been in our shoes before, forced to ask themselves "Which side am I on?" Right now, you can stand with When Democrats Turn Out and join our nation's heroes on the right side of history.

But just because we are right won't make it easy. The threat posed by white supremacy and domestic terrorism is huge. Overcoming the GOP-bankroll will take a lot of resources and we can't do anything to help Democrats without what we need to win. We must raise $4,120 by midnight TONIGHT if we want to continue to successfully hold the GOP and those who enable white supremacy accountable.
